We head to the nature reserve of Sasso Simone and Simoncello, one of the largest forests in Europe.
Sasso Simone is where the so-called “city of the sun” was built in the 15th century - it was Cosimo de’ Medici’s dream of creating an unconquerable city. We reach the remains of the city by walking along unusual rock formations known as calanques and then stop to taste local salami at Fontanelle Refuge.
